LFCC Expansion Plan and Utility Needs

Agenda Memorandum
Submitted by: Brannon Godfrey, Town Manager

Discussion:

At the August 27 Town/County Liaison Committee meeting, there was discussion about the next Community College campus expansion. The LFCC Foundation is considering building a workforce training center, and has asked the County to donate 48 acres from the Stafford Farm parcel for this purpose.  The consensus around the table is that LFCC’s growth is good – economically and culturally – for the Town and County.

There was also a discussion of serving the building with water and sewer utilities ensued.  The Town will need to know the demand and timing so that we can determine available capacity.  Paul McCulla requested that the Town consider the request and provide a general commitment to serve it with utilities before the County would proceed with donating the 48-acre parcel.  He and Supervisor Chris Granger will be in attendance for information.
